Can I use Google in Chengdu?

No, Google services are blocked in China, including Chengdu. This includes:
- Google Search
- Gmail
- Google Maps
- YouTube
- All other Google services

What you need to do:
1. Install a VPN before you arrive in China - you can't download it after you get there
2. Connect to the VPN before you use any Google services
3. The VPN works in Chengdu just like anywhere else in China

Alternatives:
- Maps: Use Maps.me (download offline map before you go) or Baidu Maps (has English option)
- Email: You can access Gmail through VPN
- Search: Bing works without VPN sometimes, or use VPN for Google

Note:
- The blocking is government-mandated throughout all of China, not just Chengdu
- VPN works fine for most people
- Some hotels have VPN that works, but don't count on it
- Prepare before you go - this is the most important thing to do before arriving

As long as you prepare in advance, you'll be able to use Google just fine in Chengdu.
