Which is better to visit, Chengdu or Chongqing?

It depends on what you're looking for - both are amazing destinations:

Choose Chengdu if you like:
- 🐼 Giant pandas - you can't see pandas like this in Chongqing
- 🍵 Relaxed, laid-back teahouse culture
- 🏛️ More historical attractions and ancient culture
- 📊 More spread out, less crowded feeling
- 🌳 More green space and parks
- 🍜 Both have amazing food, but Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan cuisine

Choose Chongqing if you like:
- 🌉 Dramatic mountain and river scenery
- 🌆 Hilly city with incredible night views
- 🔥 Even spicier food and different hotpot style
- 🚠 Incredible mountain scenery nearby
- 🏙️ More modern, vertical city vibe

If you have time, visit both:
- They're only 1.5 hours apart by high-speed train
- Easy to do both on the same trip
- Completely different experiences

Most popular itinerary:
- 3-4 days in Chengdu (pandas, food, culture)
- 2-3 days in Chongqing (city scenery, hotpot)
- Total 5-7 days for both

For first-time visitors to Sichuan:
Start with Chengdu - it's more tourist-friendly, has the pandas which are on everyone's bucket list, and the laid-back vibe is great for your first experience of Sichuan.
