Which area is best to stay in Chengdu?

The best Chengdu area depends on the shape of your trip, but for most first-time visitors, Chunxi Road or Tianfu Square is still the easiest answer.

Why these areas work:
- easier airport arrival and taxi pickup
- strong metro access
- plenty of food nearby
- simpler movement between pandas, classic sights, and evening plans

When another area may be better:
- if the trip is heavily about food and evenings, Tongzilin or Yulin can feel more rewarding
- if you are traveling with parents or want a calmer pace, quieter modern districts can work better than the busiest pedestrian areas

What I would avoid:
- remote bargain hotels that save a little money but create daily transfer friction
